Solitaire Parasitella
Pronouns | he/him |
Species | Unknown |
Height | 4'0" (122cm) |
Habitat | "Heliopause" |
Recent innovations in satellite imaging services has shown a previously unknown, isolated creature tentatively called Solitaire Parasitella, riding a comet called O2PL-0610. Reorientation of the satellite, and reactions by the creature in general, provided a time in which to create a more accurate satellite uplink through a permanent lander to allow communications with the creature.
Description
Physical Traits
Parasitella shows traditional biology as observed in terrestrial life, though affected by a crystalline growth (hereafter referred to as "infection") in several places on his body. A short, pointed snout has two nostrils, with the round head having two large round eyes slit at the edges with noticeable infection in the pupils, giving them a distinct diamond shape. Four folded ears are joined on the head in sets of two, with the pair on his left side having an earring-like infection, sourced from the inside.
At the base of his neck is a large, chestplate-like crystal growth, faintly showing an organic decay in their chest and revealing a section of their ribs through the clear material, though if their organs are transparent or have been subsumed into the infection is unclear. The rest of his torso is thin, showing some signs of malnutrition. His hands are large, paw-like, and have four fingers despite an assembly similar to human hands, contrasting his thin, digitigrade legs and skinny footpaws, as well as a trailing tail that does not appear to be functional.
Attached to their shoulders, slightly above where their arms are sourced, are two long, bony limbs, both clean of infection barring a thick cube of crystal at the very end. It is unclear what purpose they serve normally, as Parasitella has modified them with their infection to form two wings of crystalline growth, segmented into free-floating panels of crystal akin to a windchime. When the wings are tucked in, the crystal panels fold against their back into a makeshift cape, showing that they seem to have some sort of control of the infectious crystal.
Personal Traits
Parasitella has shown interest in, and knowledge of, terrestrial life on Earth, and normally communicates through pictographs recieved through a tablet attachment on the satellite lander (though is capable of speech, albeit in an untranslated language). Through this, some key information has been learned about Parasitella himself, though information about his species is lacking.
Parasitella comes from outside the heliopause, and specifically is able to control the infection to a degree. He is using his powers to keep track of the infected comet he lives on, steering it into a permanent orbit around the solar system in order to protect the creatures of it from the infection. He is isolated, often preferring it, having made shelter and home on the comet, though shows periods where they are the first requesting conversation.
He shows a great interest in music and art, often adjusting their infected pinions and tapping them against the ground or each other to repeat melodies that get stuck in his head, often hearing them from the radio attached to the satellite lander. He also is fairly good at drawing, using the tablet periodically to make self-portraits or copy images he has seen on the satellite lander's screens.
Notes
- Parasitella's comet seems to have an atmosphere, being formed of crystalline dust from the infection and various stellar gasses. Though it is unsupporting of organic life, he seems to hold no negative side-effects of it. Spectralization has shown the comet emits a mint-green light.
- He is known to enjoy sweets, with a preference for hard candy. At his request, small drop pods have been sent to intercept the comet, each filled with an amount of candy. It is unknown when this preference started, as knowledge of his existence is relatively recent.
- Parasitella does not need to be on the comet in order to control its direction, though he has expressed a great disinterest in leaving it for longer than a few hours at a time.
- When able to request music, it is not uncommon for him to pick songs in a few distinct genres - electroswing, trip hop, outrun, and folk seem to be his favorites.
- His body is covered in small, crystalline scabs. When thinking, he has a habit of scratching around them, or biting his nails.
- When provided the chance to play video games, he shows a great enjoyment with industry management simulations.
- Parasitella has been shown to be able to fly without using their wings, but it is a slow process, seemingly by choice. With his wings unfurled, he is capable of travel at the speed of light.
- While in flight, Parasitella sheds harmless crystalline dust behind himself, presumably the way he protects himself at high speeds. Recordings reveals that the trail is yellow-green, and appears similar to a comet.
- Parasitella understands human language, and has a fluent understanding of English, with some minor understandings of other latin-based languages. However, it appears he is incapable of speaking in human languages.
